Pharmacological action
A viricide. You have 48 hours from the time you first experienced symptoms to take TAMIFLU. So it must be taken within 12 to 48 hours from the first appearance of flu symptoms. In this case, the medication reduces greatly the period of clinical presentations of the grippal infection, decrease their heaviness and the frequency of aftereffect of influenza development, requiring antibiotics taking. Tamiflu can also be used for prevention of influenza following exposure to an infected individual, such as family members.
It is eliminated with urine. The half-period is 6-10 hours.
Indications
Oseltamivir is indicated for the treatment and prevention of infections due to influenza A and B virus in people at least one year of age. Oseltamivir may be given as a preventive measure either during a community outbreak or following close contact with an infected individual.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS

Allergy to oseltamivir phosphate or any other ingredients of TAMIFLU. Chronic renal insufficiency. Usage during pregnancy and lactation. Medication is only prescribed if the possible advantages of taking it exceed the potential risk for foetus or baby.
Side Effects
Oseltamivir may cause side effects. Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, headache. Some side effects can be serious. Rare but serious skin reactions and allergic reactions have been reported. People with the flu, particularly children and adolescents, may be at an increased risk of self injury and confusion shortly after taking TAMIFLU and should be closely monitored for signs of unusual behavior. The most common side effects of TAMIFLU are mild to moderate nausea and vomiting. TAMIFLU is generally well tolerated. The most common side effects of Tamiflu are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach ache and
headache. These side effects mostly occur only after the first dose of the medicine and will usually stop as treatment continues. The frequency of these effects is reduced if the medicinal product is taken
with food.

Special indications
Patients with kidney disease have an individual dose. Patients at the old age and with liver injury don’t need in dose correction. Safety and effectiveness of Tamiflu are not stated if the children are under one year.
How to Store TAMIFLU
TAMIFLU capsules should be stored at room temperature below 77ºF (25ºC) and kept in a dry place. Refrigerate liquid TAMIFLU at 36º to 46ºF (2º to 8ºC). Do not freeze. As with all medications, keep out of the reach of children.
